First time to the Snowy Mountains

logolow web site

If this is your first time to the snow you will need to consider the following. Troldhaugen Lodge is situated in Jindabyne about 40 minutes from the snow. There are a few ways to access the snow fields.

By car - If you decide to travel from Jindabyne to the Snowy Mountains you must carry chains if you have a 2 wheel drive vehicle.  If your vehicle is four wheel drive or AWD, you are not required to carry chains.  All fees and information can be found at National Park Kosciuszko

Car rental - if you are hiring a car check with your hire car company that the vehicle can be driven in the Snowy Mountains.  You may need to pay extra insurance.

Alpen Auto Rentals in Berridale (15 minute drive from Jindabyne) provides a wide range of rental vehicles that are fully covered to drive in the Snowy Mountains. www.alpenautorentals.com/

By Shuttle -  Snow Link  - They will pick you up from Troldhaugen Lodge and deliver you to either Thredbo or the Ski Tube.

By Ski Tube - The Ski Tube is located at Bullocks Flat about 25 minutes from Jindabyne. The train will take you to Perisher and Blue Cow.     www.perisher.com.au/plan-your-trip/new-to-perisher/skitube

Equipment Hire

At Troldhaugen Lodge we like to make your stay a memorable one. If you are interested in fitting yourself out with equipment, we can advise you on a preferred ski shop that we recommend in Jindabyne.  During the season the shops open late as they realise many people travel to the snow for the weekend.  If you have not organised your equipment before you leave home you can always find a place to set you up when you arrive.

We recommend that you use The Base Ski Shop. But to receive a discount you must inform them you are staying at Troldhaugen Lodge or alternatively you can use the following link.
